I’ve never seen a 911 with safety stripes for sale. Never. These look a little different from what came out of the factory though. They usually say “911" with no hole in the 9. Given this was a paint-to-sample car there is a possibility the factory went out of their way for the decals too.

funny how even “boring” colors look good on the lines of a 911.
I’ve come to find that the proverbial “999" paint code (for a bespoke, paint-it-to-sample color) isn’t all that unusual. I went for many years thinking the grey color on my ‘86 Carrera was a stock Porsche color— until I was at a rally event one year and one of the hardcore-P-car experts casually mentioned the “custom” shade on mine. Sure enough, check the Paint Code and it’s a 999. It’s subtly different, but clearly grey-er, than “Alpine White” which is what I thought it was for all those year.

I’d like to take that car for a drive. At 257 rated horsepower, I bet it’s pretty spirited.

Interestingly, the 928, with its V8 engine, did not surpass this 911 turbo’s horsepower number until 1985. I read a review once of the 928 that said that under spirited driving, the fuel efficiency would drop well into the single digits of mpg.

Nice find. Do you know when they started doing it?

The 911, particularly from that era, is distinctively attractive, IMHO. Also, having been born in 1964, cars like this ‘76 were late model and played in my adolescent automotive fantasies.

Supposedly boggy . 1989 5- speed is the one to have.

As long as it looks the same. It’s all moot because the sportiest thing I own is a beat-up Crown Victoria cop car.

I sometimes wonder what happened to me. Regarding 911s specifically though , I was born in a year that should have set me up for love of the 930 ( I even had a framed picture on my bedroom wall ) b ut first sight of the 964 and it was all over.

I like it. I can’t tell if the interior leather is green or not. Side stripe gets even better

Yes, greenish. Wish the seats matched the carpet .

I’d like them both somewhere in the middle. The carpet is too green, the seats aren’t green enough

I mean, are you really pushing it on a track day if you don’t see single-digits out of ANY car?

Well, yes, but they were just talking about a spirited drive.
